My other obsession (besides sushi)

Yes, I do like other things than sushi...

I love Barbies.

I love them so much that I have a display of them above my desk. And since I work in a library, they work in one as well.

Here's Meez!

Thanks to Librarianatwork for pointing out this site!

Of course, my Meez HAS to be in a sushi restaurant! And she's carrying a little yoga mat - I started a stretching class this week!

The tee shirt was found under Meez catagory "geek chic" -- 50 points if you can tell me why! Hee!

Oh, by the way...

I registered this blog for "23 Things".

Just waiting for our library system to update the participants page... (twiddles thumbs and hums)

Fun with Flickr Mashups!

I told you I loved sushi!

More Sushi!

Just had to post this picture - can you tell that I like sushi???
(From the photostream of dpr at Flickr.)

A Library Associate's Work is NEVER done, pt 2

1) Finished my book talks for YA and Story time classes. Felt pretty good about them. Wonder when I'll have to go book talking or do story time.

2) Am I EVER going to finish reviewing 35 reference sources?

3) Deleted a bunch of kids books that hadn't been checked out since 2005. Sense of completion - priceless.

4) Attempted to help colleague create avatar last night, but Google Avatars was on the fritz.

5) Rollyo gets a NO vote from me.

6) Filled out my Learning Activities reports for the last three classes I took (including the "Medical Databases" workshop) and got them in the mail.

7) Going to Google Images and looking up things like "Pandas" is very relaxing. ("Black Labs" also works.)

Randomness!

As you can see from my blog, I don't do the assignments in order.

I do them in order of interest.

I may have already looked at something ahead of schedule (like Rollyo) and dismissed it (like Rollyo).

Yes, will get around to doing the Rollyo assignment, but I think it's a waste of time quite frankly. I wasn't impressed with making your own search engine. Mainly because the ones I happened to try were worse than useless. I looked at a search engine for classic books, and used "Plato" as the search tern and got NADA.

The only engine I thought was worth the bother was Brian Greene's (the physicist) search engine for superstring theory.

Rollyo is not going to make me give up Google anytime soon.

However, I enjoyed Library Thing and am in the process of creating my online library for your viewing pleasure. (As soon as they get the site running again, that is, I'll get back in and show you all my nifty books.)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Edited to add: Okay, I did the Rollyo assignment. I got the search roll set up - look under "Harry Potter" by gvillageidiot.

I still think it's pretty useless as far as internet items go.

I also did the Library Thing assignment - take a look!

(And I did WAY MORE than the five required.)

I just thought I'd post this picture cause ---yum! SUSHI!!!
It's from the blog of "Ulterior Epicure" on Flickr, and it's totally awesome!
You too can look up awesome pictures - just search under "sushi" or whatever you want.
